How To Setup Your Own Dog Walker Website
Hopefully by now, you've got your web address domain and hosting purchased and set up, and the WordPress software installed, with the outline of a site, with a few demo pages.
Website Settings
Now lets dive into the settings you will need to tweak to get your website setup correctly.
Pages:
These are the pages that by default pretty much every site will need, and usually linked to from either the top navigation menu and/or from the footer navigation menu. Create each page, then add it to whichever menu you want.
- Home (depending on your choice of theme and if the blog posts 'news' will be on the home page)
- News (if separate from your home page)
- Contact Us
- About Us (take the reader on a journey from sceptic to believer to customer)
- Terms & Conditions
- Refunds (or have this as part of the Terms page)
- Privacy Policy
- Services
- Products
- FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
- Testimonials
In the next video, we'll look at creating a new page, specifically an FAQ page...
In the next video, lets create a new page, as an example of how to create any new page, and this page will be to show Testimonials and customer reviews.
FYI - One thing I didn't cover in the video above on testimonials, at the end, is to create a "View" (see the left menu) which is a layout style for the testimonials, for example a slideshow etc. You then get a shortcode for that 'view' style to be displayed in any page you want. You can also add the testimonials to part of an existing page.
In this next section, we will have a quick look at some plugins that might help you - and then at editing the site, images, text and the menu to your design
